Diary of a Mad Hobby-Horse

mb2-1 Tiptoe Centurion accentDearest Diary – please don’t ask me how in the world I see my life as that of a hobby-horse. It’s just that I’ve had hobby-horses on my mind so very recently. Perhaps it may be that hobby-horses, unlike real human beings, need a set pattern in which to go about their daily lives. The life of a hobby-horse merely involves rocking back and forth, never sideways, nor up nor down (ups and downs). It may also involve the ludicracy of it all, never getting anywhere.Their life is merely a series of episodes in which they gain ground, make progress, knowing all along that it will be taken up by the slack of the reigns and lost. Hobby-horses are also a symbol of childhood (childishness). They have no place in the adult world, which is all just and so, for the adult world is a world of concrete accomplishments. It is a world of, “I have done this thing and it is worthwhile (in no way ludicrous).”
